As part of a personal project I'm working on illustrating the 1886 novella "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson. This is the very first illustration in this project, a portrait of Mr. Hyde as he sees himself on the mirror for the first time, euphoric to be alive. Some of the inspirations for this composition have been the fake-mirror camera angles from the "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1931 movie), as well as Gustave Courbet's self portrait "The Desperate Man".
I'm eager to keep working on the rest of the illustrations for this project and hopefully come back and rework this one in the future to match my still evolving style. Also, would love to get paid for it, so if you're in need of a new illustrated Jekyll and Hyde edition and you like my art, CONTACT ME PLEASE. Enjoy!
